This Weekend

I’m leaving for Lake Chelan this evening to go tubing. We were going to camp, but the campground we reserved was evacuated today due to fires (Eastern Washington is arid and fire-prone). Chelan is incredibly popular during the summer, finding a campground was difficult; finding another campground on short notice is impossible since the evacuations have overflowed into all the campgrounds within a 50-mile radius.

We don’t want to lose the money paid for the boat, so we’re going anyway. We’ll likely end up at a hotel in Wenatchee (about an hour away); campfires are also prohibited, so camping wouldn’t be as much fun. I’m psyched about tubing though, it’s a blast.

The Company Picnic is on this weekend as well; I may go on Sunday, although I may skip. If I don’t make it, it will be the second time I miss the company picnic since 1998 (I missed the 2001 picnic because I was finishing school in Pittsburgh).
